Abstract
The Intercultural University educational model, created by the Mexican Ministry of Public Education in 2003, from an ideological point of view represents a project of neo-indigenist orientation that has no empathy with the thinking of the movement promoted by the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN), thus we can speak of a conflicting relationship between both spheres. In order to map the discursive dimension of this phenomenon among the students of a specific intercultural university (the one of the Chiapas state), the reach of the student consciousness of the ideological conflict between the zapatists and public education is analyzed. The conclusion is that the student discourse contains a contrast between the high awareness of the conflict between the zapatists and the Mexican state, and the minimal perception of this very conflict and its educational aspect, it is to say, the Intercultural University of Chiapas as a product of the neo-indigenist ideology
