Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze invitations (Haverkate, 1994; Ferrer y Sánchez Lanza, 2002) in textbooks designed for the acquisition of Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL) focused on Argentinean Spanish. Our corpus consists of data collected from textbooks which belong to the A1-B1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference. We have qualitatively analyzed the study of politeness, so as to contribute to its teaching in the SFL field, and to examine how strategies and activities are included in the practice of the topic. Results show that although the textbooks address invitations in an adequate way, they prioritize pragmalinguistic aspects over sociopragmatic ones.
