Abstract

This study aims to carry out an analysis of two thematic units about work and professions from an intercultural perspective in Spanish as a second language books (Nuevo español en marcha 3 y 4), considering gender as the focus, in order to review the vision given to the learners who use them, through a mixed multimodal methodology. It was observed that there is a difference between the number of working men and women present in the books (although in one the difference is greater).
In both, there is an assignment of traditional roles of higher hierarchy to men who have greater prominence both in images related to exercises or in certain activities such as the creation of a curriculum, etc. This can transmit to the students an image in which in the Hispanic world men are more related to the world of work than women.
